It's Been 2 Months

Since my last post. Well, a lot has happened in between. Mah Mah is now living with us and helping to take care of baby Way. We went to Cameron Highlands for short stay, while it was pouring cats and dogs. Then upon return, I started working full-time again. And not a moment too soon. I was already "borrowing" from credit cards! Last week Way started pushing himself up to sitting position and has been crawling like a commando on a mission. Last checked, his mission is to throw toys, then fetch, repeat. Yesterday, Way's fourth incisor erupted, completing the set at 8.5 months!

Baby Way's appetite has improved quite a bit. We've increased his porridge portions to 500ml from about 200ml. And in addition to that he can still finish 100ml of Ella's Garden "The Green One" right after dinner! Without persuasion. He'd willingly open his mouth for it! This is amazing compared to Ning who ate like a mouse 🐭. So yeah,we're thrilled! On the other hand, his milk intake reduced a lot in the beginning but is also regaining volume by now. Yay! Can't wait til our next development assessment!

Finally, a Photo of the 2 Pearly Whites

He's had it for 3 weeks now... The left incisor took a little longer erupting completely from the gums, but just in time for his first egg custard on Saturday at a day to 6 months!

Cheers and happy 6 month birthday!

First Semi Solid Meal Went Quite Well

I steamed 1 egg yolk with 45ml of breast milk in the 180ml glass lock for breakfast and dinner each. He loved it! Ate 1 tablespoon of it at first try! Served one fresh and refrigerated the other.

Ooh, I loved the Pigeon spoon for puree and soups! It stops the food from spilling backwards when the enthusiastic fella mouths the whole spoon. I held it there for the food to flow in while he chews on the rubbery soft spoon. I need to get more without the set of cups it came with!

Oh, and see what happens when there's too much room in the chair? Trishaw uncle propped his leg up!

We went out for lunch and he was smacking his lips.. That's when I knew twice a day isn't enough. So today I made 1 egg yolk with 60ml milk and split into 3 portions in separate glass lock. He finished it this morning, not wasted! Had to hold his hand and some distraction. Note to buy suction bowl and give him his own spoon.

Way's Lower Incisors Erupted Today

At 5 months 2 weeks and 2 days!  It wasn't there yesterday. Today is 24 Jun 2015.

No wonder he was cranky and sleepless past few nights. I was on the verge of collapsing yesterday. Luckily turned in early and recovered this morning.

After milk he grabbed my index finger to gum and that's when I felt the new teeth graze my finger... Sharp. Ready to eat!

And this morning, he called Mammee!!!

To-date, his vocabulary includes Mummy, up, ok and loads of babble new sounds. He loves it when I go "nom nom" on his sides or armpit..  He'd smile and laugh aloud. He's also starting to smile when it's 5 little piggies time. Fun!

He's also rolling further..  off the playmat but he'd stop once on the floor, because it's hard. Off the Queen mattress onto Ning's single. He's so active! Hmm... Wonder when I need to reconfigure my living room for crawling baby... Next month? Exciting!

Macho Man Can Roll to Tummy Now

And quite professional at it too. This started last week, somewhere in the wee hours of morning, after latching on... He is 4m 2w old.

Rolling back is another challenge.

Keep it up!

Going Xi by Way at 3m 1w too

Coincidentally Way is also able to put both his hands together in the middle and play with his hands at the same time as Nine!

I spotted it during the midnight feed last night and woke Logging to see it. Gotta take a picture soon!

Way, 2m: He said "Okay" right after me twice!

He had just passed motion and was fussing bout his soiled buttocks and nappy.

When I was done wiping and have just placed him on the bed with a final "OK", that's when he echoed me!

I said immediately, "Ok is good!", and he repeated another loud "OK!"

Wow! That's fast!

Words ending with -at by Ning

She drew the pictures then labeled them on the side.

I drew the bat because she thought hers didn't look like one.

Kids learn so fast with proper teaching methods and guidance (at school).

She drew a ball

And said ball!

After Note: She drew the other lines after the ball, defined as a circular/rounded line that connects to itself. It's not perfect, but hey, she's just 1!!!

Yesterday was 3rd day without wetting/soiling diaper

Yesterday was the third whole day she went without wetting/soiling her diaper!

I played safe, put her in a diaper cover for outings and sleep. She'd show signs of needing the toilet, and when placed on her pottete plus (over the adult toilet seat) she went! So far, she's passed motion 2 mornings and last night. I think she feels quite safe on the sturdy adult toilet and with the pottete plus as her seat, she can even fold / pull up her legs and hold onto the sides (of pottete handles) while straining.

It first started earlier this week when she'd wake up after 11pm until 7am, every hour and roll back and forth, not wanting to drink, but unable to sleep continuously. Mummy was very tired from lack of sleep. So I thought, no harm bringing her to the potty, if she wakes it's no worse than waking up every hour, but if she goes, I'd get a few hours of continuous sleep!

The first night, she went to sleep at 8pm. Mummy went in about 9:30pm. She woke at 11pm, latched on, then unlatched and started the rolling, whine, try to sleep, then repeat routine. So Mummy asked, "You want to go to the toilet is it?" She stared a while, surprised Mummy was talking to her in the middle of the night, then she nodded! So, "Mummy take of your nappy yeah..." and put her down in the toilet and she passed urine like a waterfall! After that, she fell fast asleep before Mummy was done fastening her diaper buttons! The next time she woke was 7am, latched on for a while, then toilet again, waterfall and passed motion! What a relief!

After toilet, I'd put her in pants, telling her she's a good girl and can use pants now that she uses the toilet! I let her choose, between cloth diaper or pants and she chose the latter. Sometimes she'd be creative and shake her head at both, then I'd just put her in pants.

So there! We're almost done toilet training! Mummy's so relieved she doesn't have to worry about wiping poo off Ning's buttocks and washing smelly poo-soiled diapers for much longer!

She walked across the living room last night

all by herself while holding Papa's phone. And a bit more. That's more than 10 steps!

She was at first holding Mummy's hand, and she wanted to hold on to Papa's phone which was playing her favourite song, "Happy Birthday". She was putting down the phone, then holding my hand, then picked it up and repeating this until Mummy said, you can let go and walk with Papa's phone, and she did!

10 little steps all on her own. That's one BIG STEP in her life!

Standing unsupported a few times

Now she lets go whenever she can. Sometimes for more than 10s at a time. I always watch in trepidation.

Ning said "Go where?"

When Mummy kept telling her to finish her milk before we go out. Mummy needed to pack lunch.

She unlatched and said "Go where?" loud and clear. I was surprised but managed to answer her.

So pleased.

Avid walker-wannabe

She takes big steps and even tries to take several steps at once while holding my hands, sort of skip-jog.
Sometimes she tires and will not bear her own weight. Then I'd just let her sit and we amuse ourselves whichever way she chooses.
Really looking forward to the standing unsupported and walking milestones. Then we can take in some fresh morning air together and go to the playgrounds!

Licensed to cruise

She started by pulling up to stand last week. Both legs rooted to the floor.

She's now tip toeing and lifting each foot above the floor, not necessarily towards her intended direction, leaning until her feet are brought nearer her destination. Sometimes, she'd successfully moved one or two feet away this way.

Since she started this, I haven't been tracking her crawl mileage. Doman says 400m per day to properly complete that development phase. I believe it too, will try harder. Its just so tiring to crawl around with her and swing your buttocks in the air like her. Toys placed out of reach doesn't work that well when there's so much of our stuff within reach that she'd much rather try get.

There.

Maybe she can stand without support soon. She's been letting go for 2s. Maybe she'll walk by her first birthday? The grandparents will sure be busy the next time we visit.

Push to stand day (9 mths 2 wks) !

She's pushed to stand six times today!

Once against the ottoman for the camera.

Once on the bed against the headboard for wedged board book.

Thrice on the floor against the IKEA bench for keyboard, yellow cup and mouse.

Once on the floor against the sofa, first time, for some opened junk mail.

Wow!

And I observed, today, she actually took mini steps towards the support while standing. Previously, her legs would begin slipping wide open as her feet perspire and she dare not lift her feet to bring them back close.

We'll soon be seeing her cruising! Better remove all those heavy or fragile items out of her reach this Saturday.

Ning is creeping & crawling @ 8 mths

Forgot to note, she's also creeping i.e. crawling with stomach off the floor, hands and knees on the floor.

And getting more adventurous.

And more impatient when I try to button her jumper after potty. Or when I try to feed her when she wants to go exploring again.

Sigh.

First "Long" Distance Crawl @ 8 mths

Non-stop!

And she's not crawling for my mobile phone, soft toys or the camera. She was heading for the math dot cards!

Butt-pulling crawl

She doesn't do this often or for longer distances.

Rolling and pivoting on her stomach is still the preferred mode of transport.

Afternote:
Right after I emailed this out from my Omnia II, she did a long distance non-stop crawl and I happened to capture it! Yay!

She signs for milk @ 8 mths 1 wk !

Whoa!!! And it's so accurate!

She's really good at it, should get it on video! When she signs milk, I'll quickly echo "MILK" and sign the same. Then she looks so amazed, that she'll keep signing milk and looking at her hand as if it's magic, sometimes forgetting I'm still offering her milk :P

On another note, she's not used "meh'lk" for some time now. Maybe it was because I didn't show enough enthusiam and encouragement when she did. Should really pay more attention to how I react to these things.

She's also been trying the ASL toilet sign. She'd bend 3 fingers and have difficulty with the thumb in before the index finger. All this while, she'd be concentrating hard, biting her lips and frowning. Then she'd just bring her thumb to her mouth before shaking both hands violently as if exclaiming, "Aiyah! I need to go to the toilet NOW!!!" Sometimes, not often, because she'd be impatient to pee already, I'd guide her fingers and she'll watch attentively.
